Synopsis
“How can I define what is exactly Sami when I looked Sami People around me have different perspective about Sami?” said Tove Nystad, a PhD student at Centre for Sami Health Research, Department of community medicine, University of Tromsø. She is 40 years old woman who lives in two distinct cultures: the Norwegian culture and the Sami culture. She has been started her PhD work for three weeks. The reason for Tove stating this question is because the Center imposes her to define Sami People as one of main variable in her quantative research process. This is a short ethno-film about one case in the advanced development of indigenous people recognition process – about how indigenous become commodity of “knowledge industry”.
